How to participate in hurricane relief

The last few weeks have seen three major hurricanes, Harvey, Irma, and Maria devastate large areas of Texas Florida, Puerto Rico and other areas of the Caribbean with floods and destructive winds. These events have disrupted daily life for people living in these areas, including the families and friends of our utility customers, with millions losing basic services like power and water or experiencing dislocation from their homes.

When these disasters occur we often feel the need to reach out and do something to help. Our hearts go out to those living in areas that have taken the brunt of the storms, and we seek to perform service for those in need.

The Aclara family — our employees, customers, and suppliers — is always ready to face challenges and solve problems for those around us. We know that many of you are interested in helping the thousands of people in stricken communities that are suffering the effects of two devastating storms in as many weeks. We are grateful for those of you who are compelled to assist in relief efforts.

How You Can Help

If you want to help, please consider extending your can-do attitude to disaster relief in this time of need by contributing enthusiastically and generously to the Salvation Army.

As a company, Aclara is pledging to the Salvation Army’s efforts to help people affected by these devastating hurricanes. We have chosen to support the Salvation Army because it is always ready to respond directly to people in need. In fact, it has activated all its US and Canadian emergency disaster response assets in response to the destruction and displacement caused by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

The Salvation Army has provided close to 100,000 hours of employee and volunteer service so far in hurricane-relief efforts. This translates into food, shelter, and emotional care to thousands impacted by this unprecedented disaster. As the weeks and months move forward, employees and volunteers of the Salvation Army will continue relief efforts in these hard-hit areas and they will need help from all of us to succeed. I would ask that you join me in contributing generously toward this noble cause. Learn more about specific Salvation Army hurricane relief activities in Florida, Texas, and Puerto Rico.
